Indira Gandhi, n�e Indira Priyadarshini Nehru (1917-1984), was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, the only child of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India.And became involved in political life almost from childhood.She was a brilliant child from her early childhood.
She spent her childhood in her parental house "Anand Bhavan"at Allahabad.

Her parents were friends of Mahatma Gandhi. When she was four she had to burn her favorite doll because Indians were disposing of British products because of the war with the British. Her parents, aunts, and grandfather were arrested for not paying taxes. She was the first person to read the Declaration of India, written by her father. When she was thirteen, she started a group called The Monkey Brigade to steal plans from the police. Her father was the first Prime Minister of India.
