About the Map you saw at the Begining of the website:

That is the map which shows the mirgation of the Manahoac and Saponi.

When the Saponi started moving in toward Bertie county, NC and Johnston county, NC during the late 1600's (Due to attacks from Northern iroqious) they had started adopting Carolina coastal Algonkians such as the Hatteras, they also had adopted some of the Tuscarora.

Because of the Saponi's adoption of the Carolina coastal Algonkian descendants, there became a mix of Siouan and Algonkian languages spoken within the nation....in fact most of the recorded words of the Saponi was Algonkian which has lead many researchers to wonder if the Saponi was not really Algonkian. The Saponi was in fact originally Siouan speakers however with the adoption of Algonkians then it did become a mixture of not only languages but also hair styles, body art, religion, clothing style, and other things that come of that kind of nature.

The name "Mattamuskeet" is currently missing from the map,  this is only because it was not until recently we here at Manahoac Saponi Mattamuskeet Nation realized  we was descended from the Carolina Coastal Algonkians before our ancestors finally was adopted by the Saponi Nation, every day we learn more and more about who our ancestors was, each day brings us new knowledge on who we are......one day we hope to be able to reclaim what time had taken away from us (Some tribes today blame Europeans for what they have lost, we do not take that approach because we know that we have mixed ancestory, the Carolina coastal Algonkians and the Saponi and the Manahoacs have been mixed since they was first wrote about in the early 1600's.......if we have anything to blame for us forgetting who our ancestors was then we have to solely lay to blame upon time itself.....the Saponi, Manahoac, and Mattamuskeet descendants today have so many races mixed in us that we really do not even know what race to classify ourself....so to blame any group for us forgetting who our ancestors was then we would be blaming our very own ancestors).  The year 2012 is not far away....the year 2012 is a time of awakening.....it is the New age........Thru great researchers like Brent Kennedy, Jack Goins, and Steven Pony Hill to name just a few, we are remembering who we are and who our ancestors are instead of just "Well I know my family looks Native American and I know our oral history is that we are Native American but not too sure which tribe".  Now we just have to remember to never forget  the importance of passing down family history. Some descendants never forgot who they was, but the ones who did forget by their ancestor's various migrations away from the ancestrial lands......those are the ones we all need to seek out and tell "Welcome home, you have been missed, let me tell you about your ancestors".
