Life-expectation

Simple answers to simple questions

We are now living in the year . But.., will you still live in the year ? How old will you get? Or what's the probability that you will live another 25 years? This web-site gives answers to this kind of questions. Just fill in or adjust the several input-fields to you personal situation. Hope you like it !

Calculation-base life table :

Personal data

Actual age of my partner :      My partner is

Application I: Estimate your life expectation !

In the first application you may test your insight in estimating your life-expectation

Predict the probability that you will live in the year :

Application II: Calculate how old you get, given a certain probability.

Next you may calculate the age you will reach for several probabilities. Change the probabilities, ages or years as you like !

Application III: How long will you and your partner live?.

Naturally it's interesting how old you get yourself. But there's more in live than living your live alone!
Of course you're more interested in how long both, your partner and you, will live. Or perhaps if you're a daddy or grandma, you're interested in what the probability is that you and one of your children or relatives both will survive a certain number of years.
Well.., in the next application you're able to find out what those changes are. If you want to make a calculation for an other person (child, relative, etc.), simply adjust de age and/or gender of your 'partner' in the area of 'personal data'.
Much pleasure !

How many years will you and your partner live?

Application IV: International lifetime comparison.

In the next table you're able to calculate your 'life-expectation' (the age you will most likely reach) and the 'remaining expected years' you will live, given your actual age at the moment. The 'actual age' in the table is at first set to zero (0) and 'gender' is defined as 'male'. In the table you now see your life-expectation at the moment of birth.
By changing the age you may notice that the higher the actual age you reach, the higher your 'life-expectation' gets.
As you may also see in the table, in life perspective, the best thing to do is to emigrate to Japan.
By changing the age or gender, you may also calculate the life expectation of other people you know.
Remember...., don't worry it's only mathematics. Fortunately the age you'll reach depends on many other factors.

R. Carey : Life Tables and Mortality

Application V: Short test: dying age of famous people.

At wich age died J.F. Kennedy? Do the test (dubble click) !
At wich age died Napoleon? Do the test (dubble click) !

Now you know everything about de mortality probabilities of 'normal people', let's take a look at the lifetime of famous people that died. How old where J.F. Kennedy, Napoleon or Queen Elisabeth 'mum' when they died?

If you think you know, do the short-test. Good Luck !

This woman is old and young at the same time. Can you see the young-woman too?

Hint: The eye of the old woman is the ear of the young one
