BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
DHAMRAI
I was born in a very beautiful village Jalsha which is full
of green trees, ponds and canals. When I was a school boy, I
had no any attention to my study, and my attention was only
to run after birds/fishes, and to play football and ha-du-du
with my friends. Playing with birds, fishes and friends, I
completed my primary and secondary educations in Jalsha. I
then moved to a college hostel in Dhaka, and completed my
higher secondary education there.
I completed my B. Sc. (Hons.) and M. Sc. (Thesis-Group) in
Physics from Jahangirnagar University. I then moved to
Scotland (UK) to study for the degree of Ph. D. in plasma
physics at the University of St. Andrews under the
Commonwealth Scholarship. I returned to Bangladesh just
after completing my PhD, and I continued my advanced
research in Bangladesh. Three years later, in 1999, I moved
to Germany to carry out the advanced research in dusty
plasma physics first by the Alexander von Humboldt
Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship and next by the Max Planck
Research Fellowship.
I finally returned to Bangladesh permanently in 2004. I am
now working (teaching under-graduate and post-graduate
students, and supervising M. Sc., M. Phil. and Ph. D.
research students) at Jahangirnagar University, and very
much enjoying my time with my wife, brothers/sisters,
nephew/niece and my students. To express my happiness, I
would like to add: I got more than what I wanted.
