This paper is a critical analysis of Chicano art work viewed in class. The slides can be seen again - check the Chicano Art File. You will select your favorite artist, and write a critical analysis of his/her work. This art analysis is due in class on Mar. 17 for Section A and Mar. 19 for Section B. Assessment criteria for determining your grade is below. |

Select a work of art by a Chicana/o artist and write a 4 - 5 page critical review of it. In your thesis statement, consider the main points covered by the reading assignments to see if any fit with what the artist might have had in mind. Use the criteria developed in class to analyze art. State what makes this art typically Chicana/o, based on the list of symbols shown with the slides in class. (A copy is in WCB Class Info for your section.) Include a short biography of the artist. Keep in touch with your group members through E-mail to share your thoughts and perspectives and drafts of your paper as you develop it. This paper is due in class on Mar. 17 for Section A and Mar. 19 for Section B. Your paper will be graded according to the assessment criteria. ![]()
