Building the Pond
We bought some property in Deerfield Ohio in 1991.  25 acres of farmland about half way between Akron and Youngstown.

Nothing much happened until we decided to put a pond in the front yard.  The state helped us design the pond.  They said we had a perfect spot for it.  This was in 1994.    Click here to see pictures of the building of our pond.

This is where the house goes
 The Early Days

WORK HAS BEGUN!!!!
The sign in our front yard
October 14, 1998 we had our first look at a big hole in the yard.
Visit our builders website at www.stevemartinhomes.com We found him at the "All Geothermal Parade of Homes" in Summit County.

Look at pictures of our early construction by clicking here (including some awesome pictures of the gravel driveway, the building permit and a big ole hole).  You realize how BIG it is when they start to put up the walls.

The Fun Stuff

The first thing you have to do when you are building a house - aside from getting a loan from the bank - is pick out about 3,000 items.  Poured foundation or cement block?  Brick or siding?  Oak or pine?  What color?  What kind?  How many?  Boy is this fun AND SCARY...  The hard part is remembering what you picked.  The BEST part is seeing the stuff you picked going up on the house!  HIGH FIVE when the brick matchs the siding and the color you picked for the roof matchs everything else.   Click here for the "This is getting exciting" pictures.

This is what things look like on February 13, 1999.

It looks real now

...and this is Spring 2000
