2004
Its Tuesday and tonight's the night I pick up my cabinet!!!
My step dad and I travelled to Luton with every intention of
collecting the cabinet that I had won on E-Bay. However after
a slight detour and a trip all around Luton trying to locate
the collection point, we telephoned Denzel (the E-Bay Seller)
and we met whilst driving along a road in Luton.
When we arrived at his "lockup" I was amazed at the number
of machines he had.. There must have been about 20 machines
crammed into a two small rooms.
When I was shown my prize purchase, my jaw dropped! - It
was massive! There was absolutely no way that it would ever
fit in the vehicle for delivering back to my house. My
first thought was, "bugger - now I'm gonna have to pay a
courier to collect it", this would have meant two things..
1) Yet another delay until I can start
2) An increase in cost.
Now, those of you who have purchased goods from E-Bay will
know that all sales are final, however in this case the seller
was very reasonable and simply offered to sell me an
alternative cabinet. Top-bloke!
After about half an hour of going through his other stock,
I finally settled upon the cabinet. It was slightly damaged
(as you can see in the picture below) and he was reluctant to
sell it to me because of this - I assured him that it was okay
and the deal was done.
So Dave (my step dad) and I lugged
the cabinet into the vehicle and shot back to Peterborough.
Eventually got through my gate at about 11:30pm.
Fortunately it was pitch black - so my wife couldn't see
exactly what I had bought! :)
