Who was Mama Rose?

Mama Rose was a little Italian lady who fed everyone she met. Her food combined the fruits and vegetables she grew in her garden, food she put up herself, and food from the supermarkets of her adopted country. She was also my grandmother.

This site is my tribute to her. She taught me the tastes of fresh food. She taught me what authentic Italian food was like. She cooked by the "pinch of this, pinch of that" method, teaching me confidence in a cook's own intuition about food.

The main lesson she taught me was that the real secret to great food is love. Loving the garden in which she grew so much of her food. Loving the whole process of preparing food. Loving the people she cooked for.

It is in this spirit of love that I offer my menus and favorite recipes. I hope you find some interesting dishes to try. Perhaps some of my favorites will even become your favorites.

What is in Mama Rose's Kitchen?

To my buddies and any curious folk who have found this page:
I apologize for the delay in changing the menu. My computer has been down for most of the last month, so I've been playing computer tech instead of HTML author. I'm working on getting the file box set up and a new menu up as quickly as I can. I appreciate your patience and hope you will check back soon. Thanks.
