Browser Compatibility The second element in the checklist is cross browser compatibility. A web site must open in a number of browsers. This is a point emphasized in our CMST-385 class, by our instructor, Bob Laurie. So while designing your site it is important to open your web site in a number of browsers available out there. If the site is designed for one browser vice another, people surfing the net will close the connection and search for one that is user friendly. When this occurs all the work done to build your site has been in vain. Never design a web site that will only open properly in Internet Explorer or Netscape, unless you are designing for a close user group, according to Harper. You have built a site for people to visit whether for information or for entertainment. So if your intent is to show off super DHTML effects, remember only a limited number of people may be able to access your site.
