You will only find pages in my site about people I Love. This page is for A special person My Brother. "MY BRO"
My brother is very special. He has a heart the size of Ga. Which by the way is where we live. David has always loved cars. I think he was 12 when he bought his first car. With Daddy's help of course. It was a ugly thing when he got it home. but, when he got finished it did not even look like the same car. I think it was a "67" Oldsmoblie Cutlass. After he turned 16 his little chain of cars started. He would by the ugliest car you ever seen and transform it into a beauty and then he might drive it a little while. but then it was time for him to work more of his magic so he would start looking for his next project. You never saw my brother drive a dirty car. It might have primer all over it but, not dirt. David knows a car from bumper to bumper inside and out. He would build the motor and then turn around and put the most beautiful paint job you have ever seen. I have watched him paint a car with such perfection. He would run his hand all over the body if he found a place that wasn't smooth as a baby's ___ he go get his sander and when he was finished it would be perfect. I only remember him in those days having one car that he did not built and that was a Corvette. To everybody boy that was a sharp car but to me I liked watching him turn a junker into a beauty. The cars I can remember was the 67 Cutlass,,next I think it was a Ford Mustang only Ford I ever remember him having while he worked on that car it looked like a real Mustang it was pale yellow and of course since he was working on the body it had brown primer spots all over it..But when he finished it was a beautiful metallic dark green. It came factory with a automatic transmission. But, that would not do he had I think a 3-speed manual transmission with a hurst shifter put in it. He was 17 yrs.old when he was working on this car. Then, next was the 72 Cutlass. I can't really remember what it looked like when he bought it. but, I sure remember what it looked like when he finished. It was a beautiful dark blue with chrome mags. I have a picture of it on one of his pages. Then after this car I think he bought the Corvette it was pretty too . Black with T-tops and from what I heard pretty fast. Wasn't long after that he got married and the fancy car thing slowed down.. Even though he worked on cars every day they were somebody elses. He took all kind of training and was even offered a job with GM. Where he would travel around doing stuff i not sure what. But, he turned it down because he had rather work on cars than travel.
In 1984, something happened that began to change David's life. He was diagnosed with diabetes a very cruel disease. It attacks you body in everyway. But it is almost silent while it is doing this. In 1998, he was diagnosed with Renal Failure. We were all devastated. When he was diagnosed he had only 19% kidney function. I wanted so desperately to give him one of my kidneys. And we did talk to his nephrologist. But, Like I said he has a huge heart and he refused to even let me be tested because he said I had to be able to take care of my daughter. It seemed like such a small price to pay to me to give him a better life. But he would not let me.. He did go through all the testing to get on the transplant list. But he was never able to be put on the list due to a slight liver problem. In 1999 he had to go on dialysis 3 times a weeks and will the rest of his life. Thanks to his wife encouagement he has remained pretty active. He has had to have numerous surgerys on his eyes to keep from losing his eyesight, And until the last couple of months we thought his heart was ok. He was sick and had to go into the hospital and they found his heart was enlarged. They did a Stress test and said it appeared that he had a heart attack at some point and set-up a cardiac catherization which was this past Monday August 5th 2002, they found he has 4 blockages at first they were going to do by-pass surgery but then decided he was far to weak to endure this extensive of a surgery so they sent him home on medication and hopefully in 6 months they will be able to correct his blockages.
