| Here I am again! By Andy
I am happy to be able to say that I am here again, because I came just an instant, just a couple of feet, of being wiped off the face of the earth earlier this summer while biking to work. It was all my fault, pulling across the highway without looking behind me to see the oncoming car. It kind of put things into perspective again...that each day is a gift....that my family, my job, my life, are all gifts to be enjoyed in the present...that wont last forever. We need to be here for each other now. (Hearing the terrible screech of brakes immediately behind you while crossing a highway on a bicycle can do that for you, but I am not suggesting that you try it!) Debbie described our travels in her message. She left out that we caught 60 Dungeness crabs while at Pete and Laras and then spent one whole evening picking the meat out of them...very tedious, but a night well never forgetJoe made it fun by asking us trivia questions off the Internet the entire time. Also we must have walked about 10 miles the last day we were in Washington with Joe...we hit every national monument they had, on foot, in one fell swoop. We were in Arizona like the only day they closed the Grand Canyon on account of a massive snow storm...but it was quite beautiful the next day. |
| This is the kind of picture Andy likes...goofy. He is seen here with Henry and the birthday cake for Henry's 25th. |

| I had a nice surprise at the eye doctors office a few months...after wearing glasses, bifocals to boot, for 10 or 12 years, he said that I outgrew my need for glasses. Actually he said that I have an unusual case of monovision, one eye great at long distance, one great up close, and no blurriness at any distance. Hey, I can live with that!
Although things have been totally crazy at work this year...we just calculated that our caseload is up 13% this year, but we also are happy that we convinced a county board committee this AM to support a state bill giving us a 4th judge FINALLY! Actually, even if everything goes smoothly, it wont be until August 2008 that that new position would be filled. Still, there is hope. Just 2 more years of working 50 to 55 hours a weekYahoo! Pictured below are our lovely grandkids, Phillip and Nora. They live in Oregon, but we get to talk to them pretty regularly. They really knock our socks off(and they are big fans of mine. ...being goofy pays, you know!) Pete is a doctor. Joe has accepted a wonderful job with a law firm in Washington DC following his graduation this coming spring. Henry is applying for PhD programs...what is this world coming to anyway? Does breastfeeding really guarantee successful kids? Who knows? Keep the faith! |

| Andy and Maynard relax by a river while hiking near Sedona in March. |
| It's surprising that Joe and Ceci don't even look crabby while picking 60 crabs in Oregon in August. |
| Great driveway artists, like Andy, Phillip Joe and Nora sometimes get chalky butts. |
