To Christmas Night by Henry When gray clouds scud cross wintry sky And snow 'pon each chill breath doth fly, The night sphere stands o'er vanquished foe And all warm spirit'd hearts do know, The time is come to homeward hie. Round family hearth good folk draw near, The joy of human life comes clear. The closer that your loved ones are, The richer is your fate by far. What thing else could be so dear? Outside frenzied snowstorm squalls. While within these humble walls, A years advance is lively shared, As each recalls what things were dared And what was one's ends up as all's. Thus each year is one point bright, Stringing life with lambent light. Long parted hearts reforged as one, The old year sealed a new begun, Though soon again we all must roam, At least one night let's seek our home. So here I toast the year's delight. Here, here, come all: To Christmas Night!
Ho! Ho! Ho! from our new home in Horicon by Debbie This year there is so much for me to report that I will forego the more creative writing and get right down to the news. This year our writing team is down to only three, Andy, Henry and I. I will just touch briefly on Peter and Joes news this year since they have begun their own family communications now that they are really making their own way in life. Peter is in the third of four years in his Anesthesia Residency at Medical College of Wisconsin. He and Lara and Phillip are expecting a new addition to their family in May and we are all delighted about it. Of course, Philip, now 20 months, is the light of our lives. There have been memories and first too many to mention for Memere and Peperes enjoyment this year. Joe and Ceci are anticipating some changes in the New Year, too. They both have computer science degrees but they feel that the opportunities in their field will not be recovering and are for the most part moving to other countries so they have been reconsidering their careers. Joe is planning on going to law school next September and has been busy sending out laws school applications. Ceci has moved very successfully into the banking industry. Henry will be graduating from Winona State University with a degree in Physics this month. We are extremely pleased at his accomplishment. We look forward to watching what path he charts for himself in the future. We never cease to be amazed at the ideas that pour forth from his inquiring mind. He loves to think and to write as evidenced by his contributions to the Gazette this year and in years past. As for Andy and I, we have moved into our new home in Horicon (10 miles from Beaver Dam) and spent most of the year making it our own and welcoming family and friends to share it with us. For me it has been and needed change. I was feeling stifled and diminished in the old house like the curator of a museum of things past. We are right next to the Horicon State/National Wildlife Refuge and we have enjoyed all the birds, and deer and frogs and snakes that frequent our neighborhood. There is nothing like a fresh perspective to make life more interesting and challenging.
Henry will be doing the graduation victory dance on Dec. 19

Andy and I spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica in March studying Spanish. It was a wonderful experience. The people were kind and friendly and the country was beautiful.
