Lets not move again for a while! by Andy After living in a home for 25 years, you collect a lot of junk, but also a lot of memories, and Im not sure which is more difficult to deal with. Dana Drive is where all of our boys grew up, played in the neighborhood, and went to school. Debbie and I also spent countless hours out in the yard nurturing plants of all kinds, including tons of vegetables in my garden. Debbie established no less than 5 different flower beds there. So believe me, it was a teary goodbye to our old house and a strange feeling to be holed up elsewhere, in what felt like someone elses home. As time went on, however, things changed. Redecorating, remodeling, transplanting plants from our old yard, putting in a new tree, and having lots of friends and family over, gradually this became our home. Taking walks thru the woods and around the marsh, watching the sunsets over the marsh, hearing the call of the geese and the nightly hooting of a great horned owl can do that to a person. At this point neither of us have any regrets. We are in a home which accommodates our growing family much better than the old house. Life is good. Debbie and I went to Costa Rica in March where we attended a Spanish Language school for two weeks, living with a local family. Debbie is continuing with her Spanish studies and is now tutoring a couple of local Hispanic ladies in English. I am still finding satisfaction from my work as a judge, although I continue to see things that sadden me greatly. I keep at it, however, in the hope that occasionally I can make a positive impact on someones life. |
