Jenny's Surprise Summer Lapbook
August 1-17, 2001

Front cover of closed lapbook. Closure is made from small file folder circles held in place by two metal brads. Ribbon is tied around to keep it in place, then the "tail" is used to loop around the brads to keep it all closed.	Lap book fully opened up.
Left hand side of lapbook opened up. Bottom left corner has a folded cup pocket. I covered the front of it with clear packing tape to protect it. It is full of small cutout aquatic animals printed on to cardstock for counting. Upper image is a small tri-fold of my daughter's narration of the story with color page.	Shows the tri-fold book opened up one side, showing the beginning of the narration and the coloring sheet she did of the two kittens!
Shows the tri-fold narration book opened up completely. She narrated this into a recorder, and I typed it up afterwards. She just LOVES hearing her "own" stories! (Crease is not present ususally, just shows up when squished on a scanner!LOL)	Shows the right hand side of the lapbook opened up. The top shows a matchbook on the "Dancing Raisins" experiment we did this week to show buoyancy. "S" was our letter sound of the week. and Below is a book with two flaps, Float & Sink, where we listed the objects we tested for buoyancy in a second experiment we did on the topic.
Shows the center bottom layered book of aquatic animals entitled "Who Are We?". Each layer has a colored picture of a creature, when lifted the name of the creature is on the back. We took this opportunity to learn the names of some rather strange animals! (Angler fish, squid, hammerhead shark, lobster, etc.) Above that you can see the front of a half-book entitled "The Oceans Around Us."	The half-book opened up to show the oceans she colored that surround the United States.
