Computer Games that I play

It's been since I had my first computer way back in 1982 that I got hooked up on computer games.  Back then the games were really basic but still exciting for those times.  The first computer I had was the rubber-key ZX Spectrum 48K!  Today I still play those games... I downloaded a free emulator on my PC.  Crazy?  Well let's say I'm very nostalgic about those times.  I have a CD full of speccy games, and I got lots of listings printed and filed of the games I used to write for it in BASIC.   Some games worth mentioning for the machine were games by "Ultimate Play the game" (Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf, Knightlore, Underwurld), Gift from the Gods, Manic Miner and much more.

Well today there's the luxury of 3D and the games got a long way from the clumsy graphics of the 80s.  I played lots of games on the PC, but the favourite all timers still remain Operation Flashpoint, Nocture, Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction, Swat 3, Neverwinter Nights and the Delta Force series.  With the arrival of the internet, games have made a whole new revolution.  Back in 90s I remember playing Doom 2 over a LAN with my friend and we got so much excited.  But with the introduction of internet, the online experience was something unearthly!  Broadband connection is a must nowadays for full enjoyment of playing online.  Sometimes I spend hours playing against worldwide opponents.  And I got a bunch of photos to show!  Click here to access them...

Operation Flashpoint in all its glory...  One of the best first person shooters I ever played.  It's campaigns get very very hard as you progress and seem impossible.  Its vast forest and gorges feel almost claustrophobic and add to the frightening element that a sniper may be anyone to take that fatal shot!  A must have for the military buff.

The idea might not be original, we have seen it all before.  The horror from the movies, the gameplay from some previous computer games.  However Nocturne remains one of my favourite games which gives me ample opportunity to kill various and diverse monsters.  As you can see from the screenshots above, the action comes fast and you must dispatch your enemies as quick as possible or you might join their legions!

Nothing goes down better than an hour's play of S.W.A.T. 3 CQB.  Storming buildings, arresting (in my case killing) terrorists and upholding the law makes good fun in this superb game!  And here's a game where at least the team mates act with some sense and they do protect when things start to get tough!  The hostages and terrorists are randomly placed in the beginning of each game, so you might chance that from the first step you make into the building you are met with action non stop or you might cover half the building and still not having fired a shot, although the latter seems very improbable!!!

I confess I never played a Command and Conquer game before, thinking that the game dealt with futuristic warfare which I don't like very much.  But Generals is ok.  It is exciting and packed to the brim with lots of action.  And my first skirmish ended up only in 5 minutes with my buildings all destroyed!  I learned from mistakes of course and by time I will deal with more and more enemies as I play it.
