| Camping
6-10 Feb 1998 at Il-Maqluba, Qrendi. Me (on the right) and Steve had just finished
our muddy camp oven, and we were ready to start cooking! |
Another camping in 1998, from 9 to 12 April this time near the Red
Tower, Mellieha. I had just bought a very large camo net and I wanted to try it
out... left picture showing me under the camo net, middle picture between a couple
of friends and right a group photo. L-R: Jonathan, Duncan, Stefan, myself,

| Photos
taken from a trekking activity on 26/27 June while Malta was struck down by a terrible
heatwave! We are crazy! First photo from the left I am with Duncan, in the
second photo photo with Stefan, on the first break at Chadwick Lakes after some walking.
Third photo Stefan and myself relaxing on the ferry boat on the way to Gozo.
We had covered more than 40km by now. And last photo shows me wearing
a very worried expression. Hitting upon the tower on the way to Mgarr ix Xini we
decided to have a break and shelter from the beating merciless sun! My feet were
blistered, but more worrying than that was the scortching heat. All 3 of us were
affected by it. We had planned to trek about 150km in 2 days. after about 60km
in just under 24 hours we had to accept our failure due to the excessive sun. Later
we came to know that we were walking in temperatures in excess of 43 degrees Celsius! |

and right me cooking MREs (Meals Ready to Eat |
The
finishing of a long weary night hike on 13 March 1998. Top-bottom: Duncan., Stefan,
myself. We started from Siggiewi till Mgarr and only us three managed to do it on
foot, the others all rode the last part in the back of a truck! |
Trekking
activity between me and Stefan on 20-22 March 1998. Our goal: 200km in just over 48
hours. Here after some hours trekking passing through the village of Madliena |

| We spent the second
night in Maqluba. We had done over 130km in 40 hours |
After the 30 minute
trip by ship from Gozo to Malta we were ready to continue our next leg. We had spent
all night trekking and we had already trekked about 80km in some 16 hours |
Waiting for the
passengers to get off the ship so we can board and cross the maltese channel. The
second day of our activity, approx 16 hours after we started |
