surname

Samuel Stansbury Jr

Son of Samuel Sr

Samuel Stansbury was born about 1725 in Baltimore Co. Maryland. He died after August 1778 and before March 1779 in Caswell Co. North Carolina.

Samuel came from Maryland to North Carolina bringing with him most of his children. At least one son Benjamin stayed in Maryland. Samuel Sr., came to North Carolina and it is assumed he did not like the area and went back to Maryland. Did Benjamin the son of Samuel Jr. make the journey back with his grandfather and stayed? After all Benjamin did witness the signing of his grandfather's will.

Samuel Jr. was married twice. Samuel's marriage to Mary Harrod is of record in Baltimore Co. dated 1 April, 1761. Mary is thought to be the second wife as Solomon son of Samuel was born 1755 per his Rev. pension papers.

Samuel received a grant of 640 acres in Caswell Co. on the "Waters of Rattlesnake Creek". This transaction was recorded 3 September, 1778 (Land Grants) book 56 page 46 Raleigh, NC.

Samuel left his will in Caswell Co. NC., it was dated August 5, 1778 and was proven in March Court in 1779. Proved by the oath of John Tolbert who was a witness. Book A page 55
