Bottom line, Zoolander delivers side splitting laughter in large quantities. This comedy starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell is one of the best comedys of its genre in a long time. What genre would that be, you ask? The long lost genre of Stupid Comedy. In this film super model Derek Zoolander (played by Stiller), whos modeling career is on its way down, is abducted and brainwashed by Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell) to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malasia. All the while, Zoolander, devastated by the loss of his friends in a freak gasoline fight accident, and completely oblivious to the fact that he has been programmed by the evil Mugatu, goes on a quest to escape the shallow lifestyle of a male Super Model. Furthermore, rival super model Hansel waits around every corner to humiliate him. The sight gags are brilliant and in some cases, bizarrely artistic, especially Mugatus office. Whats that you say, laughs are only fun, to an extent? Stupid sight gags can only keep your attention for a little while? Well, half of the fun of the movie is seeing all the cameos. There are many, many, many cameo appearances and if youre anything like me, youll enjoy name dropping to your friends as if they dont know who Cuba Gooding Jr is, or Lenny Kravitz, or Fabio etc, etc Do yourself a favor. Sit back and just enjoy this movie. Its just sooooo stupid, but your brain will thank you for the break.
