In Swordfish, a computer hacker, played by Hugh Jackman is recruited by a mysterious organization to help hack into a very important bank. Plot twists abound in this supsense thriller. Even John Travolta plays one of his least offensive villain roles. I look forward to more movies with Hugh Jackman who was extremely convincing and extremely charismatic in this movie. And Halle Berry is seen topless for about a minute or two in a scene that of course, has no pertinence to the rest of the film. A profound silence fell upon the cinema during this brief time. The actress allegedly received half a million dollars to remove her shirt in this scene. So what's the problem? Producers get some publicity, Berry gets a bonus that few people would scoff at and millions of people, including myself, get to see her topless. Everybody wins right? I found myself thinking about the discussions which developed from this bargain. Producer asks, "Will you take off your shirt in this movie?" Halle Berry answers, "No, I'm not a skank!" Producer pleads, "Please, I'll be your friend!" Halle: "No." Producer: "We'll give you 10 000$ bonus." Halle: "My integrity can't be bought!" Producer: "50 000$!" Halle: "I have morals, I'm not going to bear myself in front of everyone in America!" Producer: "500 000$! Woah!! You didn't have to take off your shirt right away But I'm glad you did." Now personally I find Halle Berry to be one of the most beautiful women in the film industry. And I find her to be quite talented, in fact her performance in this movie was excellent. But I always find myself trying to defend her. When she was charged with that hit and run accident last year, I was the first person to accept her story. "Yeah, after the accident she had amnesia and didn't realize that she had hit someone." And I will feebly attempt to defend her performance as Storm, from the X-Men movie. "Oh come on, she wasn't that bad. I mean, what does happen to a toad when it gets struck by lightning? Do you have a better answer than Hal? I didn't think so!" And now this! Shedding her garments for the right bidder. It wouldn't have been so bad if she had no qualms with it before, but by initially refusing, she seems to imply that she DOES in fact feel wrong about being topless in a movie. But then she decides that given enough money, her inhibitions can be ignored and to me it makes her seem like a hypocrate. I believe that in the long run, I have lost some respect for Ms. Halle Berry. What was I talking about again? Oh yeah Blowfish Whatever Very good movie! Go see it.
