At first, I was skeptical. A skater game? Could that be fun? Only now, after playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 do I understand the folly of my ways. If you own any platform that supports this game, buy it immediately! The Dreamcast one is, however, superior to the others, due mainly to its graphics. Where do I begin describing this game? You can select from 13 (famous?) skaters, or create yourself. The main one-player game is the Career Mode, where you have to accomplish certain feats in order to get money. The cash then allows you to buy improvements and new skills and tricks. As you get more money, new levels open up. There are even competitions where you have to earn a gold medal for top prize. That's pretty much it for one-player, but it's very engrossing and addictive. The two-player mode has various types of competition. There is Graffiti, where in a certain amount of time, players have to do cool moves on objects, thus turning it their colour. If the opponent busts a better move on an item of your colour, he steals it from you. Great fun. Also there's the self-explanatory Tag game, and a game of Horse, where you have to match the opponent's moves. I forgot to mention the Tricks mode, where the object is to rack up crazy points. All these types of play will keep you busy for many hours. This game's replay value is off the charts. The graphics are beautiful, the controls easy, and the rocking soundtrack is pretty awesome. This is definitely one of the best games I've played. I suggest you give it a try. You just might be converted to the strange world of skaters.
