PRAYERS

Pray without ceasing.
      1 Thessalonians 5:17

NO TIME FOR GOD OR PRAYER

People always find time for pleasures and sin;
There's plenty of time for play.
But they're always too busy for almighty God,
Much too busy to pray.

It seems funny to me as this world travels on
At a pace beyond compare
That it always has time for its godless desires
And no time for God to spare.

People find time to spend and time to make
And time for something new;
They've given up God for a part-time job;
More payments are coming due.

They gather together in ungodly schemes
Every loose and available thing,
Not knowing that on through eternity's years,
The echoes of their folly will ring.

I pity the man who so blinded by sin
Stumbles on in dark dismay,
Seeking and striving for treasures on earth
Where moth and rust decay.

But I admire a man with foresight enough
To see past this world's false veil,
And with eyes fixed like a flint toward God
Heads down that narrow trail.

He may not be rich or may never reach
A place that men would call fame,
But if you were to look in the Lamb's book of life,
There you would surely find his name.

Maybe rejected, maybe despised,
But upward one day he will trod,
A man whose life was full and good
Because he found time for God.
