YOU, TOO, SHOULD BE THANKFUL

A Thanksgiving poem to tell you
Of what it means to me
To live and love and worship God
In this land of liberty.
Some people don't seem to know
They live where freedom's real;
They complain and gripe and yell,
No matter how they feel.
First of all, I'm thankful for life,
The chance to live my own,
The choice to love and help my fellow man
Or live my life alone.
Next I'm thankful for eyes I have
And the chance to look and see
The things God has created,
For the prettiest sights are free.
I could go on and on
Telling of the things I'm thankful for,
Tho' I could name a thousand,
There would be a thousand more.

You, too, should be thankful
For what God has done for you.
You may not fully realize it,
But for you he's done things too.
Yes, God's the one who gave to you
Everything you have or possess,
And that true and faithful servant
Is the one that He will bless.
So let's make this a joyful Thanksgiving
In spite of trying times
And thank God for what we have,
Tho' it may only be a few dimes.
Money isn't everything;
There's lots to be thankful for;
So be content with what you have,
And don;t envy someone with more.
For what we have down in our hearts
Means more than life itself,
And if you have God
You're very rich tho' bare may be your shelf.
