If you want the Great Light Giver
To light the path yo trod,
If you want good seeds of life
Sown deep in destiny's sod
If you want within your soul
God's purest love, repent!
Then step aside and give Him room,
You're an instrument.
If you want a yoke that's easy,
A burden not hard to bear,
Valleys leveled and mountains lowered,
Then cast on Him your care,
He'll lift that heavy burden;
He'll turn your night to day,
But you'll have to step aside,
For you're standing in His way.
If you really want to travel on
And follow where He leads,
To look back at life's end
Upon the growing seeds
If you're one who'll dare to believe
There's more of God for you,
Then step aside and give Him room,
The heart's not made for two.
Don't try to lead your Lord around
Just follow in His light,
You'll but make a shadow
And blind another's sight.
Just step aside, and He'll step in;
It's all up to you.
If you want more of Jesus,
Then give Him more of you.
