 CHURCH

"Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus
Constant will remain."
         Sabine Baring-Gould

ARE WE SLIPPING

To the people of the churches of the Assemblies of God,
You're slipping, my people, from the paths you once trod.
You sit in your seats and say, "Glory! Amen!"
All the while you are slipping deeper into sin's den.

You clap your hands and wish service were ended
And try to feel happy that your lives have been mended.
Everyonce in a while you may shed a small tear,
But it's probably over someone who died last year.

It's serious, friends,'course a joke is O.K.,
But it'll be no joke to live in Hell someday,
I'm no angel, of course you all know,
Probably as far from it as mud is from snow.

Still I wouldn't sell to anyone at any cost
What I have found in true Pentecost.
So if you're in the valley of sin, why, just pass on through;
Don't stick around, for very soon it'll rub off on you.

And don't hang your head; be proud to boast
That we have and claim the "Holy Ghost,"
For if you're ashamed of God here below,
He'll be ashamed of you up there, you know.

People of God, if we lost our shout,
I'm afraid it would be hard to find God about.
Churches are slipping, and I'm sure you have seen it;
If you want it here, when you praise God, you'll mean it.
