A CHANGE SOMEWHERE

Take me back to the good old days,
You've often heard it said.
Give me back the revival fires;
Our fires all gone dead.
Now let's search this whole thing over;
Let's find our trouble out;
Let's find out why our fires burn low
And our churches seldom shout.

First let's take our Bible;
It's still the word of God.
It still leads and guides along the way
Our Moms and Dads once trod.
Its precepts still are binding;
It's words are still as true;
So the change didn't come in the Bible.
It must have come in you.

Next let's take the power of God.
Are the days of miracles past?
Has God run out of this miracle power;
Has He finally run dry at last?
I do not think so, neighbor,
For if my Bible's true,
His power's the same and changeless.
The change must be in you.

Maybe God has changed His mind;
Maybe He's lost His first love;
Maybe Heaven's already full,
And there's no vacancy above.
No, these excuses just won't work.
God doesn't love a chosen few,
And if God's love has not changed,
The change must be in you.

Now there's the place the change has come:
It's come in you and me.
For if revival fires aren't fed,
They're bound to die and not be.
Logs of faith and love kindling, too,
With fresh air and just a spark
Are all that's needed to make the fire
With some good old confession bark.

Allow it to get started well,
Then feed with a fast and a prayer,
And folks will come from all around
To see what's happening there.
That's what it took in the good old days.
So don't cause a row and a fuss,
The change didn't come in the mind of God:
The change has come in us.
