THE ENDLESS SEARCH

Out across the rolling desert,
Out across the drifting sand,
Beneath each lonely sage brush
Is an ever searching hand,
In every shadowed valley
In Canyon deep and wide
In God's hand of peace and pardon
From which no man can hide.

Whether skies to be gray or cloudless,
Whether winter time or spring,
He never ceases searching
To make some sad soul sing.
Whether dry or barren or dusty,
God's reaching out this hour
To who-so-ever will receive
A hand of peace and power.

Out across the snow-capped mountain
Far o'er the rugged terrain,
Down thru the peaceful valley
Over the sweeping plain
He is searching, always searching
For a heart to trust Him more,
And where you'll find a lonely heart,
You'll find Jesus at his door.

Mingled thru the great thick forest
Beneath each swaying tree
God's eyes are always searching
Wherever a soul may be.
Far over the restless ocean
Beneath each shifting wave
There's an ever seeking Saviour,
Who hunts some soul to save.

But a frightful day is coming
When the sunset of time will be o'er,
When the lost are lost forever,
And the search for souls is no more.
One day the gong will be sounded;
One day the trumpet will blow,
And woe to the man who has waited
And is caught unready to go.

For no more will you find Him searching;
No more His spirit will roam.
No more will He search in His mercy
To bring some lost soul home.
No more will He travel the valley
Of ascend to the mountain top;
One day the hunt will be ended,
And the search for souls will stop.

No more will He tug at your heart then,
His pleading and begging's no more
When His laborers come in from the harvest,
The harvest forever is o'er.
Now is the day of salvation;
That's God's urgent plea to you;
Don't wait till the harvest is over
And the endless search is through.
