LIFE'S GREATEST FRIEND

What would you do without Jesus?
To whom would you turn should He leave?
On what other friend could you lean then;
On whom could you trust and believe?

Where would you go when in trouble?
No one else would quite understand;
None has your answer but Jesus;
No one else gives a sheltering hand.

On whom could you turn when you're lonely?
To whom could you turn and depend?
With whom would you share life's secrets?
The world has no other such friend.

When life's seas are tossing and churning
And you're friendless and lonely and blue,
Who else guides an uncharted ship, friend;
Who else is a pilot so true?

'Tis none but my Saviour and partner;
None other could share such a load.
None else knows the seas untraveled,
Nor the pitfalls along life's road.

None else could cry "Peace" to a tempest
And have the storm like a servant obey;
None else could stay the sun in its orbit
And offer a dark world a new day.

It's Jesus I'm speaking of, neighbor;
He's the friend of whom I've just told.
The beggar's big brother's a king now;
The pauper's acquainted with gold.

Now you know why I can't give up Jesus.
The world means much less than He.
Since I alone can break this friendship,
It'll last thru eternity.

I recommend Jesus quite highly,
As companion and partner for you;
He's the answer for all of life's problems,
Life's greatest friend, yes, it's true.
