Do you often think or remember
The things of days gone by?
You see the things that you've gone through
And often wonder why.
You go through life just hoping
Those days again you'll find
When there's always more ahead of you
Than there ever was behind.
You've seen a church here and there
And seen the congregation.
Those churches are, I'm sure you know,
What started this great nation.
You see these people go to church
And wonder what's on their mind;
They know there's more ahead of them
Than there ever was behind.
Death isn't the end, my friend,
It's only the beginning;
It's only the dividing point
Where we'll pay for all our sinning.
Unless, of course, we're very smart,
And Jesus we do find.
And then we'll know there's more ahead
Than there ever was behind.
So if you want a brighter future,
Then just forget the past,
And look to Jesus now, my friend;
He makes life last and last.
There's much more joy in God above
Than all the world combined,
And there's so much more ahead of you
Than there ever was behind.
