SHIPWRECK AHEAD

There's many a man who is sailing today
The ship of life in a careless way.
With an uncharted course and no pilot to guide,
He sails on in darkness, each billow to ride.
Not heeding nor caring for help from ashore,
He sails on alone thru life's turbulent roar.
With fierce angry waves beating his ship,
He sails on and on with no thought of his trip.

"I'm independent!" he cries, "No help do I need,"
And his vessel he turns toward the storm at full speed.
His voice faintly fading over the watery bed,
He's heading for heartache and shipwreck ahead.
Not seeing nor heading God's beckoning light,
He heads toward disaster on into the night,
He says he needs no pilot, he'll never be misled,
But he's sailing into heartache and shipwreck ahead.

He's heading toward shipwreck as he sails away,
But he's too independent to hear what you say,
Should he've listened, he then would've heard,
"Make Jesus your pilot. Chart your course by His Word."
Yes, men are independent; they'll sail along they say;
Not seeing Satan's reefs of sin, they sail along their way.
They will not sail with Jesus; they'll sail alone instead,
But they're sailing into heartache and shipwreck ahead.

Their sails of pride are full of the winds of "I'm O.K."
And thus they drift toward trouble in Satan's carefree way.
With no thought of the morrow, they lift their anchors high
And sail the ship of life alone until the day they die.
Then they'll cry for mercy, but mercy will be dead;
They should have harkened sooner when shipwreck was ahead.
And let Jesus be their pilot to chart their course above;
They should have anchored safely in the harbor of His love.

So let us warn the lost today, as they sail alone;
Let's tell them they're headed towaard the devil's danger zone.
And should you run aground some day, think of what I said:
Don't sail without a Pilot, or there's sure shipwreck ahead.
