Here I am addressing the saxophone class of the University of British Columbia.  In attendance were about 20 saxophonists from UBC and Vancouver Community College and several faculty and community members.

I spoke about extended techniques used in improvisation such as multiphonics, overtone manipulation, and techniques for improvising on tone row materials.  The students also participated in some ear training exercises and "forward motion" drills.  The hour and a half master class ended with a solo improvisation on Solar.

From left to right, David Branter of Vancouver Community College and Julia Nolan of Univ. of British Columbia and I relax at my hosts' home after the clinic.

David and Julia are fantastic folks and musicians and do a great job of teaching.  The friendly attitudes I observed in all their classes and among their students was very impressive and results in a great learning environment.

Please keep it up and spread the word!
