Lynn is greeted byProf.
Glenn Kostur, corrdinator of the Jazz Studies Program at the University
of New Mexico. |
|
Lynn working with the Jazz
Improvisation Class. We worked used Autumn Leaves as a vehicle
for lessons on rhythmic variety and "forward motion" in melodies.
This was a great class, with the students
all engaged and willing to try new ideas. |

|
Here I'm demonstrating
motivic development ideas to Laura Kostur's 300 member Music Appreciation
Class. I hope it was what I was saying and playing that held their
attention, and not something wierd on my suit! |
|
Glenn, Mark and I are rehearsing
for our concert on Monday night. The show went well, though we didn't
draw as big an audience as Phantom... which was playing in the hall
next door.

Tuesday started a
bit later and it was a good thing after all of the stuff on Monday.
Here are some members of the combo I worked with, Chris on Guitar, Paul
on Bass, and Alex on Piano. This was a good group and we worked on
some concepts of playing together as a rhythm section using Stella By
Starlight as a vehicle. Then we all blew some on Beautiful
Love - it was great fun for all. |
|
Here's Glenn working with his
#1 band. I later joined the fray rehearsing Beautiful Love,
Brand X, and Haitian Fight Song. A great group of musicians,
capable of and willing to take suggestions and work with them right away.
Good luck guys, you're off to a great start! |
