Neil Hansen and Lynn in front of Neil's Office, thanks for taking the picture, Joyce.  Neil is truly the "hip cat" in this part of Wyoming, but no matter where he is, he's always hip.
Jeff Troxel, Guitar; Ronnie Bedford, Drums; Lynn, Tenor; and Mike Logan, Bass perform at the jazz convocation.  There were about 30 students and faculty in attendance and we performed jazz standards to illustration concepts of rhythmic energy, group interaction, forward motion, and just played to make music.  It was a lot of fun meeting Jeff and Mike and playing with Ronnie again.  Neil joined us for the last tune, Tenor Madness and we took everyone out "on top."
Here's Neil getting the jazz ensemble started.  We worked on a beautifully difficulty Bob Washut arrangement of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, an equally wonderful Tommy Nuesome arrangement of Air Mail Special and another modal tune.  This is always a great band and Neil is a master programmer, always choosing the hippest stuff.  Keep it up folks, you're doing all the right things!
Ronnie Bedford and his combo "pose" for a photo before we all get down to work.  This was a very fun session, working on some classic Hard Bop arrangements and getting some good blowing happening.

The Northwest College program continues to be a "happening thing" in one of the most remotest locations in the country.  A true tribute to the power of music and great artist/teachers that help bring it to new generations of musicians.
