We had a great time tearing into Hocus Pocus and Recordame. |
| The
Casper College Jazz Ensemble, Directed by Tina Claussen kicks into Oliver
Nelson's Stolen Moments. We dug into this one and Sammy Nestico's
Basie
Straight Ahead, then some horn players and the rhythm section worked
on ways to negotiate Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay. |

Tina's
Combo, with help from Tracy sitting in on bass, work on some standards
and I discuss ways of controlling tension and release by phraing across
the harmonic structure. |
| The
Jazz Improvisation class engages me very well as I talk about one of my
favorite topics, "Play from memory, not from habit." This was a great
class, Tracy, Tina and I performed together on Groovin' High, All
Blues, and Footprints to demonstrate a variety of concepts. |

Here
we all are at the end of the residency, tired but inspired by eachother.
This was a really great experience for all of us and we all look forward
to the next time we'll be able to work together. |
