Jacobite Church to offer Holy Mass and prayers at Thrikkunnath

In an emergency meeting of its managing committee held at Puthencruz on Friday, the Jacobite Church decided to conduct the Dhukrono of the Metropolitans who were interred in the tombs at the Thrikkunnath Seminary, under the direct auspices of the Jacobite Church.

The Dhukrono gains importance as the devotees celebrate the 100th death anniversary of Metropolitan Kadavil Poulose Mor Athanasios this year.

The Catholicos Baselios Thomas I told reporters at Aluva on Saturday evening that the Jacobite Church had urged the government to allow at least Catholicos Thomas I and the newly-consecrated Metropolitan Kozhipparambil Elias Mor Athanasios, who was named after the Jubilarian Kadavil Poulose Mor Athanasios, to offer Holy Mass at the Thrikkunnath Seminary which is being kept closed for the last three decades.

In light of the probated will of the deceased Metropolitans, the Jacobite Church has the legal right over the Thrikkunnath Seminary and hence they should be allowed to perform the ceremonies in the seminary, Catholicos said.

Catholicos Thomas I has arrived to attend the prarthana yajnam here on Saturday and delivered the blessing speech. Metropolitan Joseph Mor Gregorios inaugurated the yajnam.

Kozhipparambil Elias Mor Athanasios, president of ‘Viswasa Samrakshana Samiti’, presided over the inaugural session.
