The four workshops created specifically to introduce people of all ages and backgrounds to our style of creation are given the following format:

ABSTRACT MOVEMENT AND DANCE
This workshop deals specifically with the spatial orientation of the body. Each individual, through use of abstract and physical expression, will explore such qualities as breath, rhythm, attitude and physical emphasis on different spatial planes. The workshop is aimed at allowing each individual to discover an introductory method of Choreography in Physical theatre. The preliminary exercises of the workshop are directed towards a creative exercise in which each person creates a series of movements, or movement sequence. Learners will aquire the skills necessary for creating a movement piece centred on one or more themes.

CORPOREAL MIME
The Corporeal Mime Workshop is constructed in such a way as to develop the individual's basic neutral posture, which is the starting point of all creative illusion work. By teaching basic mime techniques the learners will be able to explore similar sites of precision in expression of all acting genres. Through a series of exercises in which the "inner music" or rhythm of a character is accessed, learners can discover the essence of "caricature". This workshop also encourages a basic trend of self creation by studying subject matter from multiple perspectives

COMIC BOOK
The following workshop concentrates specifically on embodying inanimate and animate objects thereby allowing fantastical and creative landscapes to emmerge via the body. Comic book is a further investigation into the specific way in which humans view the world and the effects the external world has on their attitudes and behaviour. The aim is to encourage learners to create their own universe of organic order on a stage by activating the essential skill of group communication.

BUFOONING AND CLOWNING IN 'CLOWNTOWN?'
Learners are taken on an experimental and exciting journey into an imaginary land where anything and everything is possible. The exercises, or games to be executed in the 'CLOWNTOWN?' are centered on the release of inhibitions so as to encourage the individual's embodiment of the "inner clown" and inducing child-like innocence and curiosity. Learners will be divided into groups in order to work towards establishing a specific "culture" of clownhood. The MTE feel that this specific workshop will be useful in the development and implementation of the new "Arts and Culture" curriculum. The result will be that learners are able to physically express how customs and beliefs come into being. The construction of language, also a cultural theme, is addressed in that each individual will be given a single word with which to express themselves in 'CLOWNTOWN?'. By use of intonation, attitude and physical gesture, each individu al will re-discover the process of "language-building" by returning to the very basics of human expression.
