THE TORMENTING ORANGE

The wind blows gently
Through the leaves of the tree.
Saying slowly as the sun-kissed oranges
Knock against one another.
Falling one by one,
They hit the ground
With a thump.
I pick one up,
Bring it close to my face and
Inhale the sweet, sumptuous scent.
Peeling the rind away
Piece by piece,
I expose the rich,
Bright hue of the skin.
As the acid from the skin
Squirts into my eye,
I scream in pain and agony.
The orange slides off my finger,
Drops onto the ground,
And rolls on the dew speckled grass.
My eye winces in pain,
It throbs as if it is
The beating of my heart.
Gradually my eye becomes relieved
As the anguish fades away.
Looking at the orange,
It is covered in dirt and grass.
I pick it up,
Bring it close to my face and
See an insect
Eating away the flesh.
                   WAR

The cold, bitter tragedy of war
Revolution, dangerous,
Kill, equality
Influenced by adventure and peace
Dazed, I fall forward in the heat
A wave of questions free the truth
Life falls apart
Friends think of the goodtimes
Obsessed with the soul
I remember the mocking
THE PERFECT SUNSET

We watch the sun set
Over the horizon.
The sky is splashed with colors
Of purple, blue and pink.
The light spring breeze
Brings the fresh smell of pine
Into the room.
With me in your arms,
I feel safe and loved.
Looking out into the world,
I see the orange fading
Behind the mountains.
Only a sliver of red
Left in the sky,
I slowly drift off to sleep.
You watch me silently,
Listening to my every breath.
Hugging me closer,
I feel the warmth of your body
Next to mine.
While consciously asleep,
You talk to me.
I hear your soft whispers
Telling me secrets,
Secrets you have never told me before.
Things I have not heard.
Three words linger
Inside of me
My heart overflows with emotions:
Delight, bliss and enchantment.
I hear you say it again:
I love you.
