I Am Keeping My Pit!

I am writing in regards to all the B.S. that the city is making responsible pit bull owners like myself go through just to keep our dogs with the grandfather clause. This whole pit bull issue has long ago gotten way out of hand, mainly due to bad press. It is because of bad media attention that fear has been placed in people’s minds.

It is totally ridiculous to expect dog owners, whose dogs have never attacked any person or animal, to jump through all these hoops. I could perhaps understand; had my dog ever shown any signs of aggression or attacked someone but she has NOT!!! The city is being totally unfair to those of us who have been good dog owners, with dogs that have never been in any kind of trouble.

With all the demands that have been made, the city is trying to make it impossible for us responsible owners to keep our dogs. I’m sorry but I do not make the kind of money that these city councillors do. I simply cannot afford to meet all these demands right away, and that is just what they are hoping for. The city wants us poor folk to have no choice but to give up our dogs because we cannot afford to meet their demands. I am willing to register, microchip, spay and even muzzle my dog when I walk her. However all these things cost big bucks and it’s going to take time for me to raise the money. It will cost me over $500 plus the cost of the $1 000 000 liability to make my pit legal but I will find a way to do it somehow.

I am an honest hardworking man who has never been in trouble with the law. I have no criminal record and have never been arrested. However the city would have to take all that away from me and throw me in jail before I let anyone take her away from me. I love my pit, Essence. I am innocent and she is innocent and I will FIGHT for my little girl!
