On July 18, 2006, our beloved Essence passed away after just 3 days of illness. We are still not sure exactly what happened, it was all very sudden. We cremated her remains and buried them beneath her favourite tree. We have left this page up in memory of her and have added some memoriums.

Hi all I'm Essence. I'm an American Red Nosed Pit bull. I actually am 1/4 American Bulldog so I'm a bit bigger than normal pits.

I have never bit anyone in my life, although I do sometimes forget how big I am and jump on people. I'm also a lapdog although Frank says I'm not.

I've had one litter, of 9 puppies. You can see pictures of them by clicking on the photo button below.

My favourite toy in the whole wide world is my KONG. I even know how to spell it. They are supposed to last us dogs our whole lives but mine doesn't even last me a year. Luckily for Frank's wallet, you can bring the pieces back to the store and get a new one for free. I just love to chew it to pieces! When people tell me to CALM down I just get more excited because I think they are saying KONG!

My other most favourite thing to do is to jump up and grab onto tree branches and hang from them. Frank also sometimes hangs my KONG up from a tree and I just hang from it. I can climb trees too. TREE is another word I know.

For some reason I don't understand, some people believe pit bulls to be very vicious dogs that should be banned. The city I live in has just banned pit bulls. I have to be spayed, micro chipped, registered and licensed, penned on the property and muzzled off property to be allowed to stay. Plus Frank needs to get a million dollar insurance policy on me. This is absolutely ridiculous!

Frank is trying his best to show his disagreement with this ban as are other people. He has been on TV and has sent letters to the editors of our local newspaper. We pit bulls are not all bad!
