Storyline:
Mei
Jiang Xuet (Kristy Yang) and Chan Suan Shuang (Alice
Chan) are twins sister from an evil woman out for domination.
Unknowingly to both mother and daughter, Jiang Xuet is her third
disciple which she dotes on the most for being intellect and
capable. Suan Shuang is the god-daughter of their father disciple,
Chan Tian Xiang (Lawrence Chan). Both sisters were seperated since
young, and in their adulthood, both clashed as rivals in love. That
dimwit man couldn't make up his mind as to which woman he
loves of feels indebted to. Several times, Jiang Xuet has to save
him and when she know that the other girl is actually her twin
sister, she trys to give way to her many a time. Meanwhile, their
mother is kicking up a racket in the martial world. She demanded
that Shaolin pays attribute to her mother whom they killed when she
was young. Her father is in fact an exiled senior monk who has long
give up on his own daughter. And the girl's father is the man who
took her in and volunteer to guide her on the right path...
My Views: (sorry
for lack of English)
The
Snow is Red was one of the ATV's ancient series produced during
1997. Because of filming this series, Kristy Yang who is
portrayed as Mei Jiang Xuet, one of the main character, that
win many viewer's hearts. There, she later got promoted by ATV to be
the top actress of the station and became well-known in
entertainment circle. That is also why she got invites to film "The
Stormriders" with two heaven co-stars: Ekin Cheng
and Aaron Kwok. She then became a bit popularly after that.
The
Snow is Red was also the first serial I got to know more Kristy
and became one of her most fan. I really likes her character, her
costumes and make up in the serial. She played as a
smart and an understandable person. She was one of the most
beautiful actress out of all other actress. However, I strongly
dislike her love story. She loves this dimwit man, played by Andrew
Yuen, so much that when every time he was in troubles, she
always there helps him and save him. She convinced her love to him
many time and done many things for him, but he did nothing back to
her, or paid her. He was the most useless man in the world, who
don't know the different between "loves" and "likes".
He made her carrying pregnant with him and then later abortion. I
can only describe him as a person who was so an irresponsible and
stupid. I don't see any of hero from him, to me he's a coward. Not
only that he's a blind too. At one scene when he knew Kristy died
and also carrying his baby, he does not have any deep of suffering
or tearing or take that responsible. Even though he do, it
would only take a few second, and in other minutes he happy again
and would spend more romance time with Alice Chan, who
portrayed as Kristy's twin sister. Alice was also the same, not much
different from him. Nonetheless, she was much far away and
difference compare to Kristy. You can say I'm critized Alice, but
she deserves it and I'm sure nearly every fans of you would
absolutely agree with me too. I don't find anything good from her
and she shouldn't played as Kristy's twin sister. At one
scene, when she knew she was the real daughter of the evil woman,
she was so broken-hearted and cannot accepted her real status. But
so what, at least she got that utterly stupid man on her side and
support her, where Kristy do not have anyone on her side, not even
one person. She was the most painful of all. However, she still
strong enough to stand out and facet her real identity.
For Alice, her performances are such a weak, not as strong as
Kristy, not as independent than Kristy. She always cried and cried,
and I don't see of her helps a lot for her lover more than
Kristy.
Only Kristy and her mother played by Mi Mi Kung are the two
actresses that I enjoy
to watch. Kristy and Mi Mi not only performances as mother and
daughter but also
a teacher and a student (master & disciple). Their
relationship always ups and down. However, they seemed understood
each other very well even though at time Mi Mi didn't know Kristy
was her real daughter. Kristy was the third disciple and Mi Mi
always loves/cares her a lot. But when she knew Kristy is a real
daughter that disappeared many year, she loves and cherished
her more. And her feeling to her daughter was so touching than her
feeling to other daughter, Alice Chan. That's what I like them too.
And Kristy deserve for a mother loves her daughter tenderly.
