| Basic Magog Philosohy
Not much is officially known about the mainstream Magog philosophy, other than they worship a powerful being they see as their savior and seems to fuel and direct the Magog en masse to violence of reprehensible magnitude.
From the Allsystems Database: "Magog society seems to be little more than an aggressive all-consuming horde. The Magog produce no art, no music, no literature. It's not known how such an aggressive, uncooperative species could have developed the spaceflight capabilities and sophisticated technologies the Magog are known to possess. In fact, some researchers theorize that the Magog are not a natural species at all, but rather some kind of bio-engineered weapon, programmed to replicate themselves and destroy everything they come in contact with. But only the Magog know for certain, and they've steadfastly refused to answer questions regarding their own origins." What or Who is the Abyss?
"Long ago, each had given up asking the question of whether their immortality was worth the price. Death is not a stranger to the athanor, only quiet, easy Death. When an athanor dies, it is in pain and suffering, body struggling to maintain a haven for life. Still, despite the phenomenal healing powers that are their heritage, athanor can die, they can suicide."
Some have said the Abyss is one of the last Athanors. What is an Athanor?
"There are people whose watch stops at a certain hour and who remain permanently at that age" - Sainte-Beuve
"The Primal Paramounts of Shadow. Mortals who have passed into a crucible of power and been somehow transformed. Collectively, they refer to themselves as the Athanor. Others call them gods, heroes, titans, banes, nightmares. Their power comes from within. Their blood is bound in arcane fashion to primal sources of Shadow Power. Some call them Blessed. Knowing them might be a Curse. Loving them like unto a Doom. Each Athanor is known for their legendary association with power or resilience or both. Each Athanor seems to succeed and prosper with unique qualities. Some scholars have tried to contrast the personal power of the Athanor with the Demons of the Abyss-- as if the infinite variety of Shadow might be bounded by such inventions and categories. In fact, infinite variety seems to be the only common point of the Athanor and the Demons." Conclusion: Is the Abyss an Athanor? Do Athanor's exist? Where did the Abyss originate? How did the Magog come into being? These are interesting questions for which
there are, at this time, no answers.

The Way
A significant change since the Commonwealth's fall has been the conversion of some Magog to the new religion of Wayism (see People of the Way, Political Formations). Unfortunately, Wayism's tenets of peace and cooperation have only appealed to a tiny minority of Magog. The most famous Magog Wayist is Rev Bem.
