Memories

Links
Growing up, my parents raised and showed Burmese cats.  We always had a dog.  I took riding lessons, ballet and gymnastics.  I have always been around animals.

I graduated college with a B.A. degree in Horsemanship and a minor in Business Management.  That year I got my first "own" dog.  He was an Australian Shepherd, a backyard mother/son cross.  I learned about house-breaking, training, etc. on him - poor boy, he was a saint.  Most of my major mistakes were made on him.

I wanted to try herding, what the breed was originally bred to do.  He lacked the drive and talent.  So, I ended up getting a Border Collie.  She is a genius.  I worked her, but didn't know anything about trialing.

I was told about the Mid-Atlantic Australian Shepherd Club trial in Buckeystown, MD.  I went to watch.  I was hooked.  I met some Australian Shepherd breeders and eventually purchased my next dog from one of those breeders.  With that dog, I delved into the breed ring.  The rest, as they say, is history.

I love to work my dogs.  Currently, I show in conformation, obedience, rally obedience, agility and herding.  In my spare time, I work as a vet tech, ride my horses and read.
