	Torture Stories That Weren't...WMD That Were 17may04 Looks like prison guards are admitting they weren't ordered to abuse prisoners. That their actions were their own. Law enforcement types make great confessors. They usually come clean once they decide to confess they feel guilt about something. Probably the hue and cry, the outrage, in the forum I post and in the media, about "systematic torture" will die down as we find the stories to be more fluff than stuff. Probably the outrage will now be directed at WMD found and being used against our troops. Probably not.

		What We Focus On HighPlainsView 6 May 04 I posted this at the Rocky Mountain News Forum in Iraq War. (If you wish to share this thought feel free to copy, post, email, etc.) Many people gleefully relish any embarrassment to the United States and the war against terrorism. And we are at war. At war against an enemy who kills indiscriminately and purposefully, targeting innocent men, women, and children. An enemy who kidnaps and slaughters even those who would make life better for all. So, tell me why abuse by a few prison guards causes more outcry than slaughter by terrorists? Even as we find that our own system works. The US Army was investigating abuses as reported by soldiers who saw aberration of a few within their ranks. It seems that those with slavish devotion to the great PC gods will trample all over Common Sense in their rush to indict all of America for the actions of a few. How much self-inflicted harm have we caused by making ourselves the "bad guys?" I just hope that enough of us maintain our focus of the big picture.
