Sample lesson plan # 2

French 111, Chapter 5, Leçon 3, Vis-à-Vis

The main purposes of this lesson are that :

Students will be able to orally identify articles of clothing
Students will be able to show mastery of prepositions by putting those articles of clothing in various places in the classroom.
Students will be able to describe themselves using adjectives introduced in this lesson.

Materials

1. Graded tests
2. Clothing in a suitcase
3. Overhead of p. 57
4. Overhead of p. 54
5. timer

Opener

1. 12:10 … Come in wearing some clothing, carrying others in a suitcase.

2. Collect homework! Ask students:

Quel jour sommes-nous? Quelle saison sommes-nous?

3. Greet students, get attention

4. Start by going through items in the suitcase; repeat twice with students

5. End by taking clothing off and having students repeat (2x). End wearing a dress for comic effect. Introduce colors too!

Participation

6. 12:20 … introduce sur, etc. using overhead

7. 12:23 … using TPR and the chair in the middle, have students move clothing around

8. 12:35 … have students, in groups of 2, write a description of each other's clothing. Put Il/elle porte … on board (4 minutes)

9. 12:39 … have students come to the front to describe each other's clothing

10. 12:45 … chorus read p. 54

11. Read also the four words on p. 55

12. If there's time, have students, in groups, do #C, p. 55.

Closure

13. 12:55 … Return tests. Questions will be addressed tomorrow. Announcement about timecards for next week
