About Me

My life and times.

Name: Pommy
Age: This surprisingly changes, born right in the middle of the 1980s though, so you can work it out from there.
Politics: I think the control of money and/or power depending on your economic system should be entrusted to the state, individuals should have the freedom to do with their bodies as they desire, and the state should be carefully monitored with the mandate of the people. And everyone in Parliament should be forced to dress up in outrageous period costumes at least once a week.
Religion: Sadly, God died a long time ago. It is time, I think we can all agree on this one, we moved on with our lives.
Art: A good friend of mine once had a night of inspiration where he believed the only true way of meaning something in life was to become an artist and inspire others. I've always believed in that kinda prospect to a degree, that we want to imprint the way we see the world in others perceptions, another search for immortality. Whatever happens, some bastards have done it very very well.
This is ignoring the genre of film, in the last century, as American Studies 109 has explained, film has become a new form of art, that lets be honest is a lot easier to take in than the other visual arts. My favourite director probably Coen Brothers, also like everything else, I am not too discriminating, Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life" up there, and Terry Gilliam's "Brazil". Eh, I could go on forever, if I could be bothered.
Then to top it all off, music. Usually silence fills my mind perfectly, but I lose it occasionally, when I feel like utter crap, and all in the world seems to be caving in, some music can just make everything seem that much more bearable. Mountain Goats, Yo La Tengo, Postal Service, Panda Bear, The Postal Service, M Ward, Genesis, Elliot Smith, Bright Eyes, Wilco, Sufjan Stevens, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Radiohead, Queen, Vampire Weekend, Disney sing along music is fantastic too, especially when doing mindless tasks.
Work: I work for Disabilities Support Centre formatting one document type into another. Very exciting times, but feels reasonably worthwhile so far. Have absolutely no practical skills.
Drugs of Choice: I didn't really think this could fit into "Art". TV is probably my favourite drug, behind beer...sweet, sweet beer, expensive or cheap wine and the occasional scotch or cocktail combo to send me on the road to oblivion. Some great TV Programs include Southpark, Red Dwarf, Arrested Development, Family Guy, The Office (American/UK) it needs comedy, thats about all, but comedy seems to be underrated in this terrible world.
Uni: I go to Uni still, devoting myself to the single goal of having the largest possible student loan, without failing or anything, but still having a pile of completely meaningless and useless degrees. So far BA, LLB, and BSc exist in the compilation, hoping to add an LLM by the end of this year.

Passion: I am passionate about arguing about almost anything, and you will find that very soon, but my true passion, my absorbing reality is vegetarianism and the rights of animals. The way individuals treat animals in today's society is so beyond absurd that I couldn't possibly start to ramble. Think about what you eat, and then stop eating meat, because if you really think about it, it is wrong, and there is no way of seeing it any other way. Unless you are just a bastard or lazy, in which case, welcome to humanity.

I am sorry for wasting your time, but if you spent the time reading all of this, you are either a very good friend or a fool...or a stalker...in either case you are doomed so there is no helping you, except for the stalker, who is on the right track. Worship of me is a great idea. Have a nice life.
