| On 23rd June 2002, I 'kind of' met actress Emma Caulfield at an SFX event in Blackpool, at the Norbreck Castle Hotel here in the UK. Here is my account of what happened. I woke up around 3 am to get ready for a 3 hour Journey to Blackpool. Once in Blackpool we spent about 15 minutes trying to get to the 'Norbreck' where the event was being held, because most of the roads were closed off. Once..finally outside of the 'Norbreck' we (my friend Kate and I) went inside to register, and we recieved a goody bag containing an SFX guide (to the stars) leaflets, a doctor who tape, a star trek voyager book, another book and a Buffy book. We then went around a corner to another table and we payed �12 each to have our photo's taken with Emma Caulfield, later on in the day, the man that was sitting at the table told us where the main hall was...so we followed his directions and then we asked a lady, where we went from there, and she told us that we had to get into the queue to go into the main hall. She also told us that Emma wasn't feeling very well so she would be doing the photo and autograph sessions at a later stage in the day. So we went through the door where the queue was, and went and lined up ready to go into the main hall....the corridor where the queue was also led to the game workshops. After about 6 minutes we were finally in the main hall and the guy from 'Farscape' was talking on stage. We listened to the whole question and autograph session and then we left the main hall, we met up with a friend of mine 'Ian', and together we all went into the dealer hall to look at all of the merchandise. Throughout the morning we basically walked around, then later on 'Shiri Appleby' was about to start her question and answer session on stage, so Kate, Ian and I sat down ready to listen. We then all saw James Marsters on the balcony going to do his photo session with fans, so we all turned to look for about 5 minutes. Finally around 1pm myself and Kate were able to queue up for a photo with Emma, after being in line for about 15 minutes, we moved upstairs and dropped off our bags, and joined another queue. By this time I had butterflies in my stomach...that were dancing about, because here I was just about to meet my Idol. Finally it was my turn...I faltered for a seconds before going over to Emma to have a photo taken with EMMA CAULFIELD. Emma said 'hey' to me, and I managed a very quiet 'hi' back. Emma put her arm around my shoulder and I put my arm pretty much around her waist and the photo was then taken. We said 'bye' to eachother and then as I walked away I started crying, for I had just stood next to my idol, it was the best feeling in the whole world, even if it was only for a few seconds. A few hours later, as Emma was about to come on stage in the main hall to do her question and answer session, a white 'bunny' hand appeared through the curtain...and then the amazing young woman, came onto stage. While Emma was on stage talking, I decided to pick up my courage and go and line up to ask her a question.(infront of thousands of people!). So I stood in line for a few minutes rehearsing my question that I was going to ask Emma afraid that I would go wrong when it was my turn. I asked her something like "You've been on the show a few years now have you had any really embarrasing moments?" And Emma asked me "in general or on set?" I then mananged a 'huhhh' before realising she had just asked me a question. Anyway that was basically what happened although I would have loved to have Emma's autograph (though I did get it on the photo I had with her) and to be able to talk to her properly. I met her and that is enough for me. Thanks Emma you really made my day:-) |
