 Playing
the character of Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson in Prisoner,
known as Prisoner Cell Block H outside of
Australia, is undoubtedly Maggie's best known
role. The prisoner officer with a nasty, nasty
streak made Maggie globally famous. 'The Freak'
is one of Prisoner's best known characters
and even became something of an icon to the show's

The final
two episodes of Prisoner, 691 and 692,
from 1987, centred around Joan. Top dog
Rita Connors is dying of
cancer and seems to be plotting with 'The Freak'
but she is actually
engineering her
downfall. Prisoner ends in dramatic style,
