| OK, so maybe they're not interesting in the sense that you were probably hoping for. But these facts are about Jim, so that automatically makes them worth reading, memorizing, and quoting to your friends at random moments! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The saddest thing in the world to me is the fact that I hardly know anything about Jim! What I do know, I learned from various sources. I know that Jim was born on the 18th of December in Toronto, Canada. He currently has a home in California, and one in Hawaii. Jim has played guitar for "Weird Al" Yankovic's band since it was first formed. Steve Jay referred him to Al and he auditioned and won. And that's about all I know. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| But with full credit and special thanx to Carlotta *thank you again!* and the "Midnight Star", I am able to put information from an interview with Jim on this site. This interview is taken from the "Midnight Star" vol. 1 no. 3 July 1993 and vol. 2 no. 2 April 1994. To read the full interview, go to http://www.emsphone.com/Al/interviews/jim.txt. |

"Kung Fu Fighting". What is your shoe size? Size 11 1/2. Who were your musical influences as a kid? Initially, various purveyors if acoustic folk guitar, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zepplin, olf Fleetwood Mac and other English blues ensembles. How old were you when you realized you wanted to get serious with music? About 17. What other instruments do you play? I manage to wrangle sounds from other stringed intruments such as mandolin, banjo, steel guitar, ukelele, tenor guitar and bass. Other than that, I spend considerable time fiddling with electronic keyboards and computers. Do you write songs/movie scores, etc? Yes, mostly instrumental underscores for various action/adventure features one might find in the video store or on cable: "Lady Dragon", "Angel of Fury", "Blood Warriors", "Shelley Duval's Bedtime Stories", "Cousteau" documentaries, etc. Who besides Al have you done session work with? A stellar list of L.A. unknowns. Also, some Scotti Brothers artists. What brand of guitar do you prefer and why? The one I prefer I don't have yet! But I do own some Ibamez's, Washburns, an old Stratocaster and a B.C. Rich. My favorite acoustic is an old Ovation. How did you come to work with Al? I was referred by Steve Jay, who had recently met Al. He auditioned a number of guitarists and I won. Any nicknames? "Nick Aragua", "Jim Jam", "Hey You". |
