| Correlation to British Literature: | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| There are many ways in which these Boston Documents correlate to British literature, and are as follows: 1. Some of these actual documents were written by people living in England at the time about the American people and what we were doing. So the actual documents can be considered British literature. ("The Boston Port Act" is an example of this) 2. Many of the documents were written by people who lived in America, but who were directly from Britain. These documents are critically a lot like British documents and have the same literary elements. ("The Rights of the Colonists" and "The Boston Massacre as Reported in the Boston Gazette" are the two examples of this) 3. All of the documents had some effect on the British people and what they thought. This sparked many other British documents to be written and had an influence in general British literature of the time. (James Otis's "Rights of the British Colonies Asserted and Proved" and the "Circular Letter of the Boston Committee of Correspondence" are two examples of this.) |

| British Public Opinion: | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| The British perspective of how the Revolutionary War went down is completely different from American point-of-view. They see our acts as rebellious and outrageous. Pouring tea into the Boston harbor wouldn't be seen as a noble or courageous act, but as a rebellion against English Economy. The Boston Massacre was painted as being a horrific and unspeakable act of the Americans. The British would see it as us not taking orders, and as a call for them to keep us in line. In the British eye, America would be seen as being selfish and full of greed, neglecting thier ties to Britian and more importantly the hand that feeds them. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
