Yule marks the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. The long, dark night marks the height of darkness upon the Earth, a time when the Adept may meditate upon all that the darkness has to offer, and may enjoy the cloak of night at its fullest. Night symbolizes the victory of self over oppression, of insight over blind superstition - these are celebrated on the longest night of the year.

Yule predates Christmas - indeed the modern celebration of Christmas is nothing but an attempt by early church authorities to "Christianize" earlier pagan celebrations of the Winter Solstice. The giving of gifts, decorations of holly, lights and "christmas" trees all come from these traditions. The Adept chooses Yule as a celebration of their revelation; we reclaim the old traditions for their own sake and reject the false meaning imposed over them by the acolytes of a false god. At Yule we celebrate birth and new life - ours! At Yule we celebrate our Liberation! At Yule we celebrate our joy at being alive and Free! Yule is for us, and so we claim it!

Invocation for Yule

Dark Lady and Lord spin the web of life for all living things, with many paths for us to choose from. Let us feel the pull of our desire, the sureness of our will and the counsel of our judgment together in the balance of our life. Let us walk our parallel paths of life, learning from one another in respect and openness.

May you reach into the dark of the night and find new meaning; may the end of the old and the imminence of the new serve to strengthen the Dark Flame which burns within; may the energy of the flame shine through you, lighting your path as the beacon of one with true vision.

Come most beautiful, you who are more seductive than any enchantress, you who whisper to the hearts of men. O come, mother of this world. Come, Lady Lilith, you who are the stars amidst the heavens. For this night doth enfold your brilliance and give openess to your desire. Come to us, Great Lady, speak to us, descend unto your priestess who loves you truly.

Come most wise, you who light the black flame of understanding and bear the flame of insight through the darkness. O come, father of this world. Come, Lord Lucifer, you wo are the brightness amidst the heavens. For this night doth open your wisdom as it opens our minds. Come to us, Great Lord, speak to us, descend unto your priestess who loves you truly.

Meditate and/or Manifest an act to symbolize the power of your desire
