RUNNING FROM THE LAW

by:  Rebecca H.

It's a warm, sunny day as you ride your horse toward a small town.  You reach for your canteen only to find that it's empty.  "Damn," you mutter, urging your horse to move faster.

You've been riding for over four days now, trying to outrun those who follow you.  It was your sixth back robbery, and you had never expected that they would set a trap for you in Paradise Hill, of all places.  You hope that they've given up on finding you by now.

As you enter the small town called Four Corners, you notice the bank.  It's a small building and looks like an easy target.  You quickly erase that thought from your mind, knowing it's too danger to pull off a heist when the law is looking for you.

You see a water pump a few feet away and ride up to it.  You get off your horse and start to fill up your canteen.  A loud ruckus erupts from the nearby saloon.  The thought of a cool shot of whiskey tempts you to enter the saloon, but you know you need to keep moving in order to lose the lawmen who might possibly still be on your tail.
